RESEARCH PROGRAM

Research program on “Mechanisms of Lung Inflammation” and “Nanotechnology and Nanomedicine”.
Funding from Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada; Canadian Lung Association,
Saskatchewan Agriculture Development Fund & Saskatchewan Health Research Foundation.
Research collaboration at Hannover Medical School and Free University in Berlin in Germany.
Significant discoveries include characterization of pulmonary intravascular macrophages as a therapeutic target in lung diseases and characterization of expression and function of integrin αvβ3.
Nearly 60 trainees (16 graduate students, 2 PDF, 42 undergraduate students) & 45 research papers

TEACHING PROGRAM

Teach veterinary gross anatomy in the veterinary medical program and graduate courses in inflammation, lung biology and cell biology. Developed 3 undergraduate and 2 graduate courses. Set up a national known academic support program for the students living in the residences at University of Saskatchewan. Served on the Admissions Committee and Curriculum Revision Taskforce (New curriculum implemented in 2007)
